Story

A Business Built in the Yard

Durmazlar Hurdacılık is a scrap buying and used-equipment business working right inside Soma's industrial district. The mines, power plant and industrial facilities in this region regularly retire heavy material — conveyor lines, crushers, tanks and structural steel. For years we have been buying that material, sorting it and putting it back to use.

Every item in our yard has a history: some of it came from plants we dismantled ourselves, and some is waiting for a second owner. Sending what should be melted to the furnace, and what still runs to someone who will use it — that is the most valuable part of this work.

We take on jobs at every scale, from a single truckload to a complete factory teardown. No job is too small; the only difference is that for the larger ones we come and see the site first.

How we work

How We Work

  • 01

    We do not quote blind

We will give an indicative figure from photos, but a firm price needs the material in front of us. A price revised downwards later serves nobody.

  • 02

    Weighing happens in the open

Weighing takes place with you watching and the ticket goes into your hand. Never accept a deal whose weighing you did not see — not from us either.

  • 03

    We leave the site clear

On dismantling jobs, offcuts, bolts and rubble do not stay behind. When the work is done the area is handed back ready to use.

  • 04

    Safety is not negotiable

Our crew works in personal protective equipment and fire precautions are taken wherever hot work happens. We also follow your own site safety rules.

Recycling

Recycling & the Environment

Scrap metal is a material without an end: it can be melted and made again, using far less energy than producing steel from ore. Every tonne that leaves our yard is that much ore left in the ground.

That is why sorting matters to us. Ferrous metal, non-ferrous, cable and equipment are each handled separately, and machinery still fit for work goes to a new site instead of the furnace.

FAQ

Questions We Are Asked Often

01How do I find out the price?

The quickest way is to send a few photos over WhatsApp. Tell us the type of material, roughly how much there is and where it is, and we will give an indicative price the same day. For larger jobs a firm price needs an on-site visit.

02Is there a minimum quantity?

There is no fixed minimum. You can bring smaller amounts to our yard; for collection with haulage it usually makes more sense once the load fills a truck. If you are unsure, just ask and we will look at it together.

03Do I have to sort the material first?

No. We sort mixed loads in our own yard. That said, non-ferrous metals like copper and aluminium fetch a better price when kept separate, because in a mixed load everything is valued at the lowest grade.

04When and how is payment made?

Payment is made once weighing at the weighbridge is complete. The weighing takes place with you present and the ticket is handed to you; the payment method is agreed together according to the size of the job.

05Do I pay for dismantling and loading?

No. Cutting, dismantling, grab and crane work and haulage are all included in the quote. Once the offer is agreed we do not add line items later; if something could change it, we tell you before starting.

06Which areas do you cover?

We are based in Soma, Manisa, and work regularly across Manisa, Balıkesir, İzmir and Kütahya. For larger tonnages we can travel beyond those provinces too — send us your location and we will see.

07Do you sell used equipment?

Yes. Our yard holds conveyor drums, gearboxes, electric motors, tanks, tipper bodies and large-diameter pipe among other things. Not all of it runs — we tell you plainly which units work and which are only good for parts.

08Do you handle the paperwork for scrapped vehicles?

We guide you on which documents are needed for vehicles and superstructures being scrapped. Since the process runs through official bodies, we walk you through what you need to do at each step.

Got scrap to sell, or looking for equipment?

Either way the answer is one message away. Send a photo and we will take it from there.
